Home Sewage Treatment System (HSTS) Repair or Replacement in the Sandusky River Watershed
Funding from Ohio EPA 319 Program with a total amount of $1,600,000.00.
Project sponsored by the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition in cooperation with Crawford, Erie, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot County Health Departments.
Project Start Date: July 1, 2007 Project End Date: June 30, 2007 then extended to December 31, 2007.
Project Area: All of Sandusky Watershed with focus on Targeted Areas Maps - Crawford, Erie, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot.
Project Goals:
1. To replace or repair at least 169 on-site home sewage treatment systems in the Sandusky Watershed over a 3 year period. Cost-share on systems will range from 50%-75% depending on the applicant's income and the type of system being installed. Higher cost-share is available for experimental systems. There is also a ceiling for payments for each system installed. For specific information regarding the payments, please see the table below. These figures are preliminary numbers, they cannot be guaranteed until the grant has been authorized by Ohio EPA.

2. To provide educational opportunities to help people understand the importance of proper system maintenance, and how to ensure proper maintenance of their system. Meetings will be held to provide this information to the public.
