Subwatershed Planning in the Sandusky River Watershed

Main Project Sponsor: Heidelberg College Water Quality Laboratory
Other Contacts Include: SRWC
Project Start Date: January 2004-January 2005
Project Area: Honey Creek & Broken Sword Creek Subwatersheds
Project Funding: $10,000
Project Goals:
To produce Watershed Action Plans (WAPs) for two subwatersheds of the larger Sandusky River Watershed. These plans must (1) address local water resource impairments, (2) be acceptable to local residents, landowners, and other stakeholders, and (3) be endorsable by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Both Honey Creek and Broken Sword Creek will have completed TMDL's published in 2004.
Project Activities:
Thus far, a total of four meetings have been held to gain input from local landowners. The first draft of the text is currently being drafted. Once it is complete, it will be submitted to planning partners and a variety of other local organizations for review and comment. The public will have access to the plans for review and comment as well. Completed plans will be submitted by the end of 2004 for Ohio EPA and Ohio DNR review and endorsement.
